Can I Get Vaccinated While Pregnant?

Simply put, the answer is yes you can get vaccinated while you are pregnant.

COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for all people 12 years and older, including people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to get pregnant now, or might become pregnant in the future, says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Pregnant people are more likely to experience severe illness from COVID-19 when compared to other people. Severe illness includes illness that requires hospitalization, intensive care, need for a ventilator or special equipment to breathe, or illness that results in death.

However, the risk of severe illness is low. A person may not experience severe illness at all. It’s also important to note that pregnancy does not increase the risk for COVID-19.

The CDC recommends that pregnant people who have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19 get evaluated immediately. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms, or if you think that you might have come into contact with someone infected with COVID-19, please contact your healthcare provider immediately.
